Well the previous post aged well. I promise I'm not dead, I just severely underestimated how much I was transitioning into a much more offline lifestyle. DJing takes up a lot of time when you also still have a 9-to-5, and honestly my motivation to focus on my writing has seriously plummeted. I felt like I'd gotten overambitious with my planning and planned myself straight into a corner, and for a while I'd considered myself at a dead end, and had even given up on the project altogether for a while. I think I'm unhappy with how chapter 1 turned out. I feel like it doesn't quite set the tone for the rest of the story that I want it to. i.e. it's simultaneously too quiet and too abrupt & emotional. I've been considering a lot of ways I can work around this. Including scrapping it entirely, going for a medias res style start, and having a character briefly retell how the journey began. But I also think my problem with the beginning isn't so much the chapter itself but where I go from here. Somehow, with this kind of mundane starting point, I have to introduce the rest of the main cast and get on with the part where things stop going as planned and the real shenanigans begin, without it becoming boring in the meantime. Ultimately I've decided I'm going to timeskip and catch-up straight to the aforementioned shenanigans to keep my motivation intact, and keep the first chapter as-is, regardless of my feelings about it. Call it a pilot episode if you want. The real journey will begin soon.

Real talk, I cannot guarantee any updates to this website will be made in a timely manner anymore. I'm finding out the hard way that I simply don't have as much time for side projects like this anymore. But I'm not abandoning it by any means. I owe it to myself to keep my creative spirit exercised. Even if it's mid. Even if all 5 people who actually read this site have already moved on.

So it's been a real long time since I've updated this space or honestly even checked up on Neocities for that matter. The last few months of my life have been crazy, I'd been hopping between multiple living situations, staying on peoples' couches with no access to my computer for a while, all while getting settled into a new job and making new friends and finding myself after officially getting properly moved into the ol' city of Chicago. And then not long after I got fully moved into my own place, Team Cherry decided to finally release Silksong and I got pulled right into that (I still haven't beaten it yet). But now, I feel things have settled down enough that I can confidently say I'm back! I'll be working on my creative projects again shortly, so expect to see a chapter 2 of The Long Way Round in the near future, and I'll probably be finally taking my first steps into learning to produce music soon when I have the time too!

I thought I'd try using this page as a blog, I don't feel like I have much to be blogging about but it surely wouldn't hurt to try.

I went to a concert yesterday! Some local breakcore and DnB artists. A lot of queer 20-somethings dancing or filling coloring pages, some clowns were doing yoyo tricks. All in all a grand old time. I'm finding that small local events can be more enjoyable than huge stadium concerts with big names performing, deffo more feasible to do frequently too. I don't go out very much so I try to make the most of the opportunities I do get to do so and not just let myself become a hermit again.

I've mentioned on here that I'm working on a bigger writing project. It's a multi-part series that I've been working on on-and-off for a hot minute now. The first chapter has actually been "done" for a while but I'm finding myself to be my own worst critic and have been putting off revising it. The beginning is just always the hardest part, y'know? No matter what direction I take the story, this will always be its first impression, and I'm letting myself get overly nervous about that. But! I am very nearly at a point where I can confidently say I'm happy with it, and will be rolling it out soon! I hope you enjoy, and if on the off chance you've been looking forward to its release, I appreciate the patience ^.^

That's all for now, keep rotting, my friends ~RotNeverEnds
